9/12/2023 0 Comments Super metroid map brinstar doorsIt's a long fight that you can't freeze it in, so get ready to jump around and learn how to avoid it. Ridley wasn't too bad, but his core took like 30 missiles. It took me about 8 or so tries, over half of my total deaths. Specifically BOX-2, Ridley, and SA-X come to mind. Spark puzzles weren't that bad, surprising for a Chinese hack. It's not hard, but anyone who doesn't know about it is SOL. You have to abuse the physics of missiles to clip them through walls in various points, and it's a little tedious. There's a certain maze in Sector 6 (shown in screenshot 3) that's really annoying, and brings me to my next point. I liked it! Some of the tiling is a little repetitive and off, but it's excusable. The Core X's vulnerability was really cool and unexpected. Some enemy vulnerabilities are changed, especially bosses. Bomb and power bomb timer are reduced, making for a LOT less tedium. Due to the room headers not being changed, the map is really confusing at times, but if you can figure out how to piece it together it kind of makes sense. The beam damage at the beginning of the game is painfully low. However, it's riddled with a few problems. Entirely new rooms and a fully new map, different boss rooms, tons of cool stuff. (once again, what kind of player you are matters)Ī complete overhaul of Metroid Fusion, and a good one at that. Overall, this hack can be pretty polarizing and confusing but it can also be a really interesting romp and wow you with some of the custom stuff. I guess that has to do with the rooms changing for each weather cycle. I'm used to the typical dedicated item room for something and said item being required for something close by, but not in this hack. Major items also have no special rooms for the most part, you really just find them sitting somewhere in an orb in a room. The item progression is almost entirely nonlinear and like Sickwood said you can get early-game items super late (and vice versa)which can be really rewarding or offputting depending on how you play. Heat also stops you from doing a lot of the things you want to. You can find yourself blocked off from a boss entirely, which is annoying when you're basically done with the area and just want to fight it and leave. Some of the roomstates are incredibly frustrating, especially the ones with the wind. The ASM is very well done with a couple hiccups and crashes, saves are frequent enough for the crashes not to be much of an issue but I really hope they get resolved, obscure as they are. The tiling style and the rooms are super weird but in a way I liked. Read More If you're willing to butt your head against a wall for a while, there's a very unique hack in store for you here. Honestly, you won't get nearly as much enjoyment out of this hack as you would if you'd played most of the hacks that are present. No softlocks, one hardlock in the special area I mentioned so don't go grappling red pirates like a dunce. Lots of ASM hacks that made the environments fit in a few areas and the physics of original Y-Faster too. The whole experience felt somewhat surreal because I'd already played these hacks before (4 of the 5 base ones)and it was just done so well. Thanks to Meta for helping out with the last few items in chat. Timer was surprisingly tight, but I did go for hundo to be fair. I beat this on my second try, first one was full of exploring and getting lost in the world which I really liked. I won't spoil which areas are which, because that takes the fun out of it. Takes a few pretty good hacks (and one special one, in particular)and puts mini versions of each of them in each given area. So get ready to blast off in a rocket fuelled Starfield performance preview.Read More Oh my god.one of the best hacks to exist so far. We also compare the improvements over the previous showing, enhancements within the engine, and much more. The biggest question after the show(s) was: why is it 30fps on Xbox Series X and Series S and not 60fps? In this IGN Performance preview, we dive into the details shared by the team, the revealed PC minimum and recommended specifications, and how the Creation Engine 2 works, comparing the previous games to gauge some of the potential reasons why the team might have chosen 30fps.
